The Soviets shot Korean Airlines flight 007 out of the sky in 1983. The official story is that the plane strayed off course and was savagely shot out of the air by the Russians. Is that the real story? Two somewhat different viewpoints on this matter are represented below.

Edward T. Chase, former Editor-in-Chief of New York Times Books and senior editor at Scribner, argues the thesis of a deliberate cover-up of the facts of KAL 007.

Although Chase disagrees with Keppel on the nature of the cover-up, both agree that we have not been told the truth about that part of our history. Keppel is collecting letters to Congress asking for a new investigation. If you feel compelled to ask for the truth, send a copy of your letter to Keppel so he can track the number of letters congress receives on this matter.
